A Beacon of Sweetness in Grafton: Lighthouse Coffee

There is nothing quite like a Saturday morning in Grafton. The mist is still hanging low, the town is just waking up, and the smell of fresh-roasted beans is calling your name. We recently had the pleasure of spending a morning at Lighthouse Coffee, nestled right in the historic Rubel Hotel storefront on Main Street, and let us tell you, it’s the perfectly cozy corner of our community!

More Than Just a Great Cup of Joe

While the name says "Coffee," your sweet tooth is in for a serious treat. Owners Jody and Mike have curated a menu that goes way beyond your standard latte. During our visit, we saw folks walking out with:

  • Decadent Muffins & Danishes: Perfect for a morning stroll.

  • Legendary Apple Fritters: Crispy, glazed, and big enough to share (though you won't want to).

  • Hand-Scooped Ice Cream: Because it's never too early, or too late, for a cone in Grafton!

  • Signature Roasts: You can even grab bags of their delicious beans and grounds to take a piece of Grafton home with you.

The Best Seat in the House

If you’re a fan of "people watching," this is your new headquarters. We spent time perched on the window stools, watching the hustle and bustle of Main Street. It’s the perfect vantage point to see the town come to life. If the weather is nice, their outside seating is the place to be; soak up the sun, enjoy the river breeze, and watch the world go by with a caramel-drizzled treat in hand.

Meet the Heart of the Shop: Jody & Mike

What makes Lighthouse Coffee truly special isn't just the caffeine; it’s the people behind the counter. Having opened their doors on April 26th, 2025, Jody and Mike have quickly become part of the Grafton fabric.

  • Mike is a true gamesman. If he isn't brewing up a storm, he’s likely thinking about his next move in Scrabble or Monopoly. He’s such a fan of puzzles and strategy games that he even plays online when he can't find a local challenger. So, if you think you’ve got what it takes to beat a Scrabble pro, stop in and say hello! When he’s not at the board, you might find him out on the River Road on his Harley... because nothing says "Grafton freedom" like two wheels and the open road.

  • Jody brings the creative soul to the shop. She is an incredibly talented oil painter and crafter. In fact, her work is so impressive that she recently took home second place in a local art fair!

Stop In and Stay Awhile

Lighthouse Coffee is one of those "hidden gems" that makes our town so unique. Whether you’re a local regular or just visiting for the day, Jody and Mike will make you feel right at home. It’s a place where the coffee is hot, the ice cream is cold, and the company is always warm.

Next time you’re wandering Grafton, pop into Lighthouse Coffee at the Rubel Hotel storefront. Be sure to tell them the team here at Graftonillinois.com sent you!
